About Me

I have been designing and building software for businesses for over a decade and my primary focus has been on building Internet applications.  I use a combination of technologies to provide interactive and impressive websites for my clients.  I have used my software skills to allow small organizations to look and perform like large corporations and to allow large organizations to respond and change quickly like small companies.  See my portfolio for a list of some of the sites and organizations that have relied on me to create a web presence.

I have spent years carefully building a relationship with a team that has a balanced set of skills that are perfectly positioned to handle web applications ranging in size from small to medium ($1000 to $100,000).  My team and I have built over 200 websites and most of these clients are located in Mississippi where I am located.  Through a combination of partnerships with advertising agencies, consultants, and specialty web firms I am able to meet the needs of almost any small to medium sized business.

Over the last few years I have developed a website platform that integrates a content management system and template system into a software package that is unlike any other system on the market.  The combination of this software allows for tight integration with all aspects of website management from page creation to page deletion.  User administration, images, documents, text, e-commerce, calendars, and message boards are just a few of the types of content that is integrated into this single administration system.  These applications allow discrete modifications to be made to individual sections of a single page or to entire groups of pages without the user ever needing to know any technical details.

I have developed projects in several programming languages including Perl, Visual Basic, C, Fortran, and even GWBasic (long time ago).  However, I currently claim two languages as my specialty: Java and PHP.  I am a Sun certified Java Programmer with seven years of experience.  I have been building websites with PHP since 1999 when the language first began making strides in the web community.  For more information about languages and technologies have a look at my technology section.

The second specialty that I have is in database design and management.  Since the mid '90s I have been utilizing databases for my clients in many forms depending on their needs.  This includes Microsoft Access and FoxPro for desktop development, IBM DB2 for AS400 development, and MySQL development for websites.  The database that I have used almost exclusively for the last three years has been PostgreSQL.  PostgreSQL is fully ACID compliant as well as being very robust and efficient.  I find that there are very few database needs that PostgreSQL can not handle.
